Get Ready For Work

This is an individual employability programme for young people to gain skills and experience in the world of work.

Some of the GRFW clients have been involved in working on the path building and taming the wild gardens at Viewfield House. In May 2008, a Bush Craft workshop was held in Viewfield Garden Collective, and the clients were offered a place due to their involvement with the project..

Viewfield garden and path, Portree – is a project to make a path into the community garden which is being restored. This will provide outdoor activity for a variety of people, and helps develop confidence and learn new skills.

On this occasion GRFW clients, Russell Montgomery, Sammie Jones and Beth Foggin, all had a great day on the Bushcraft course where they learnt survival skills such as learning how to make a shelter, make a fire safely and cook simple food, via working as a team. Everyone had a great day in the Skye sunshine, and can now take those experiences learnt and put them into everyday life.
