Creating Pages for the WebCourse DescriptionThis course is designed to develop knowledge and understanding of the main technical and design considerations in developing websites and introduces the skills required to create a simple, multi-page website incorporating text, graphics and hyperlinks for use on the World Wide Web. You will learn how to hand-code web pages using Hypertext Mark-up Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and how to structure a website and create a navigation scheme, taking into consideration the issues associated with both accessibility and usability in web application design. You will also learn how to optimise digital photographs for use on the Web and how to create simple graphics using drawing and paint tools. The notion of ‘good practice’ in website design will be explored and you will evaluate your own and other websites for visual design, effectiveness and efficiency. The course is aimed at anyone with an interest in web page creation and could be of particular interest to those who would like to create their own personal website or help update one which is already in existence, perhaps at work or for a club.
