Painting Media and Techniques

Course Description

This enjoyable and practical course will introduce you to a range of painting media and techniques used by artists - both historical and contemporary. You will produce a range of paintings which show creative use of a variety of media and techniques. Throughout the course, you will be encouraged to develop an individual approach to your work, and will explore ways of effectively conveying mood and atmosphere. You will have the opportunity to explore a range of subject matter, including still life, portrait and landscape, and will compile a folio of your work. This course  is suitable for anyone wishing to explore the possibilities of various painting media and techniques, and develop an individual approach to their painting.     

Entry requirements

Entry is at the discretion of the tutor - but no experience is necessary - this course is suitable for both beginners and those with some experience of painting. 

Qualifications

On successful completion of the course you will receive an SQA Certificate.

Attendance

We recommend you attend each of the weekly sessions to achieve success in this course.

Start Date

Progression

After this course, you could progress to other art courses - or to our part-time courses in both Auchtertyre and Portree,  or our full time Course..

Cost

£80   Costs include tutored sessions and an SQA certification on successful completion.

There will be an additional cost of £15 per person towards the cost of materials and students will also need to provide their own A3 sketchbook, HB pencils and soft eraser.

This is an ILA Scotland approved course. Ask your learning centre for more information on how to apply for this funding or call ILA Scotland free on 0808 100 1090.  Applications may take around 4 weeks.  Fee waivers may apply.
