Course Description
This certificated course will give delegates confidence which will enable them to meet workplace wine-service standards and deal with basic customer enquiries. The course is fun, informative and certificated, and wines are tasted, notes are made and food and wine are tasted and matched together.
This foundation course will introduce candidates to the main styles of wine available, wine service and the matching of food and wine.
Delegates may be asked, at the time of booking, to bring along a copy of their wine list and a bottle of wine, preferably from that wine list, which will be opened and tasted according to the WSET systematic approach to tasting.
The course will introduce the student to:
- the main styles of wine
- the WSET tasting technique
- characteristics of the main grape varieties used to make wine
- the service of wine
- health, safety & legal issues
- food & wine matching
Multiple Choice Exam
30 questions comprising 10 on wines by style, 12 on the service of wine and 8 on food and wine matching.

Target Audience
The over 18s and those keen to learn more about wines and increase wine sales. This foundation course will introduce them, at a very basic level, to the main styles of wine available, wine service, and the matching of food and wine.

No previous knowledge required.

£150 - This includes a handbook, the examination and certification from WSET.
