Art and Design Skills - Part TimeCourse DescriptionThis course provides a varied programme of study incorporating two and three dimensional disciplines - Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and Ceramics. Some of the drawing activities take place outdoors and will provide investigative work for development and completion in the studio. Students will learn how to develop initial drawings and studies into more finished pieces of work using a range of media and techniques - an essential skill for any art or design based activity. Printmaking and ceramics will further develop media handling skills and provide the opportunity to explore particular techniques in more depth. The course is aimed at anyone who wishes to develop their art and design skills and improve the quality of their work as well as those who want to try new disciplines. Entry requirementsThis course is at an intermediate/advanced level. Students would benefit from previous experience of an art or design course at Standard Grade level or equivalent. The units of the course are at Higher level. Applicants should present samples of recent work where available. QualificationsOn successful completion of the course you will achieve four National Units: AttendanceWe strongly recommend that you attend all tutored sessions where possible. There may be work to complete between the tutored sessions. Start Date and VenueThe course will take place on Friday afternoons from 12 noon - 4pm weekly starting Friday 3rd September 2010 to 20th May 2011, with breaks over October, Christmas and Easter holiday periods. ProgressionThis course will provide a good introduction to other art courses including our full time Art and Design Course. Cost£270. Fee waivers may apply and this course is approved by ILA Scotland. Ask your college learning centre for more information on how to apply for this funding or call ILA Scotland free on 0808 100 1090. The cost includes most learning materials and equipment, all notes and studio time, and certification on completion of the course. Students will be asked to supply basic art materials for their own use at an approximate cost of £30.00 - a list is available from the Learning Centre - suitable clothing is required for outdoor activities. |
