Communication Level 4 (SCQF 6) Open LearningCourse DescriptionThis double credit module aims to further develop your skills in communication. You will respond to a variety of written texts, produce writing for a range of purposes and demonstrate listening and speaking skills for effective communication. The module requires about 80 hours of study and there are a total of 8 assessed tasks:
Entry requirementsThere are no entry requirements for this course although achievement at Communication 3 or an equivalent level of proficiency in communication would be desirable. If you are unsure, please call your nearest college learning centre now to find out more and we can arrange for you to discuss the course with the tutor. You will need to bring a note pad and pen. QualificationsNational Unit. On successful completion of assessments you will be awarded with the relevant SQA Communication award. AttendanceThis is a flexible learning course which requires 80 hours of study and should be completed within nine to twelve months from the date of enrolment. You may complete the bulk of your studies at home or choose to attend your nearest college learning centre for a learning space where support will be available. Attendance for assessments is mandatory. Start Date and VenueFlexible to suit you. Please note that if you intend to use this module alongside Literature 1 as an equivalent to Higher English for entrance to College or University courses, you will need to commence your studies no later than October to complete by June. Call any one of our college learning centres to find out how to enrol or for further advice. ProgressionAlong with Communication 4, you may also wish to undertake Literature 1. Together, these are accepted by some universities and colleges as equivalent to Higher Grade English. Cost£140 including learning materials, workbooks, access to a college learning centre and tutor support. This is an ILA Scotland approved course.
