Creative Writing 1 & 2 (SCQF4, Int 1 & SCQF6, Higher)
Course Description
Why not put pen to paper – or fingers on the keyboard - and explore the techniques involved in creative writing? This course will enhance your confidence and competence in writing. You will be encouraged to develop self-expression and an awareness of the creative possibilities of language. At Level 2, you will have the chance to explore the challenges and constraints of writing within chosen genres. Confidence in creative writing could open up the possibilities of a career in vocational areas such as journalism, advertising, public relations and marketing or simply increase your ability for your own enjoyment.
While different tutors will take different approaches, you will be working towards three assessments (known as learning outcomes). All three are re-drafted pieces of work and do not need to be complete to be submitted. You will have the chance to cover areas such as:
Creative Writing 1
- expression of feeling
- writing about an event from varied points of view
- writing to convey relationship
Creative Writing 2
- writing to express feeling in a chosen genre
- writing a narrative in a chosen genre
- write in verse or prose in response to a brief
