Online Food Hygiene Elementary Level

Course Description

This course can be used as an induction, awareness, refresher or as elementary training.
The course plans to raise the understanding of food safety and hygiene.  It will also provide candidates with an understanding of a wide range of key food safety issues, including the 3 main types of food safety hazards, their sources and methods of control.  Candidates will also learn about the correct temperatures needed for storage and food handling activites, from delivery right through to sale.  They will also be aware of common food pests and how to control them, along with the principles of cleaning and disinfection.
There is also the option to have this course with a Polish voiceover, but the candidate must be able to read English as the final quiz will only be supplied in English.

Other requirements

If not using one of our learning centres you must have access to an internet ready PC, sound is also required.  The quiz at the end of the course MUST be completed at one of our Learning Centres.

Qualifications

Food Hygiene Certificate from Virtual College, approved by the Royal Institute of Public Health (RIPH).

Attendance

This course is carried out online.  It is made up of a group of different modules, including graphics, activities, challenges, animations and a quiz.
A minimum of 2 hours online activity is required before the quiz is completed.  This does not have to take place all at once.
The quiz can be re-taken as many times as necessary in order to pass the course.
We strongly encourage that you study at the Learning Centre where there is help and support on hand.  The quiz at the end of the course MUST be taken at the Learning Centre.  Learning Centre PC's can be booked by calling the numbers below.

Cost

The course costs £55.  This includes access to the online course at our Learning Centres, mentor support and a final certificate on successful completion of the quiz.   This is an ILA Scotland approved course.  Ask your learning centre for more information on how to apply for this funding or call ILA Scotland free on 0808 100 1090.  Applications may take around 4 weeks.
