Get Ready for Work (GRFW)Programme DescriptionIf you are aged 16 or 17, left school, can’t find a job, training or college place then GRFW could help. GRFW is a national training programme devised to bridge the gap between school and work. What does the programme cover?
With guidance, you will devise your own individual training plan. GRFW will organise work tasters and placements to help you choose your future career. Some work placements may offer training on the job and give you the chance to achieve a certificate. You will also have access to a range of the courses that the college offers. This could include: computing skills; reading; writing or maths.
Entry RequirementsYou need to be aged 16 or 17, have left school and not employed or in training. QualificationsOn successful completion you will be awarded with a College Certificate. How much time will it take?This programme can last up to 20 weeks. Full time attendance requires a minimum of 30 hours per week. Part time attendance can be made available. If you chose to study as part of your individual training plan, this will usually be for a minimum of 3 hours per week. If you find a suitable job or you get an offer of training or a college place while on GRFW then you can leave before completing the 20 weeks. CostThis programme is FREE - anyone taking part will be paid a training allownace of up to £50 per week, if you attend on a full time basis. Help with travel expenses may also be available. |
