Hospitality Supervision SVQ

Course Description

This Level 3 SVQ is designed for anyone in full time employment, who has to take immediate responsibility for the operation of an area or other people at work.
The qualification is made up of 8 units, 5 of which are mandatory and the other 3 are selected by the candidates from a list of specialist units relevant to all aspects of the hospitality industry including 

 * Supervise the work of staff                                             * Establish & develop positive working relations
 * Contribute to the control of resources                         * Manage yourself
 
* Supervise a function                                                       * Maintain the food service
 
* Maintain the drinks service                                            * Maintain the housekeeping service
 
* Maintain the reception service                                      * Maintain the reservations & bookings service
 
* Maintain the linen service                                              * Monitor & solve customer service problems
 
* Control practices for handling payments                   * Contribute to development of the wine list
 
* Contribute to the development & introduction of recipes and menus

The majority of the evidence for the qualification will be provided through visual observations carried out in the workplace.  The candidates will also have to show that they have appropriate knowledge and understanding of their job.
 

Entry requirements

 You must be in year round full time employment be responsible for an area or other people at work.

Qualifications

SVQ Level 3 in Hospitality Supervision.

Attendance

This course is completed in the work place.  You will also have to attend various 1 day workshops including health and safety, customer care and food hygiene.  It is expected that you will need about 2 years to complete the SVQ Level 3 qualification.

Start Date and Venue

The SVQ in Hospitality Supervision can start at any time and it takes places in your current work place. At present we are able to cover the Skye and Lochalsh area.  For more information about this qualification please contact Jenny on 01478 611763.

Cost

We provide you an evidence portfolio and all the documentation required to help you complete the qualification. We also provide you with a textbook and access to a variety of different resources.

Candidates must be in full time employment and may be able to secure funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, especially those between 16-19.
