Housekeeping SVQ

Course Description

This Level 2 SVQ is designed for anyone in full time employment, who is involved in any aspects of housekeeping.
The qualification consists of 8 units, 4 of which are mandatory and the other 4 are selected by the individual candidates.  It has specialist units relevant to all aspects of housekeeping, including

* Clean & service a range of areas
* Work using different chemicals & equipment
* Provide a linen service
* Clean windows from the inside
* Carry out periodic room servicing
* Contribute to effective teamwork
* Maintain housekeeping supplies
* Collect linen & make beds
* Give customers a positive impression of yourself
* Prepare, service & clear meeting rooms

The majority of the evidence for the qualification will be provided through visual observations carried out in the workplace. The candidates will also have to show that they have appropriate knowledge and understanding of their job.

Entry requirements

You must be in year round full time employment and working in a housekeeping environment.

Qualifications

SVQ Level 2 in Housekeeping.

Attendance

This course is completed in the work place. You will also have to attend various 1 day workshops including health and safety, customer care and food hygiene. It is expected that to complete a Level 2 SVQ you will need 18 months.

Start Date and Venue

The SVQ in Housekeeping can start at any time and it takes places in your current work place. At present we are able to cover the Skye and Lochalsh area. For more information about this qualification please contact Jenny on 01478 611310.

Progression

This qualification could help the candidate progress into a role with more responsibility. They may also be able to progress onto the Hospitality Supervision Level 3 SVQ.

Cost

We provide you an evidence portfolio and all the documentation required to help you complete the qualification. We also provide you with a textbook and access to a variety of different resources.

Candidates must be in full time employment and may be able to secure funding from Highland and Islands Enterprise, especially those between 16-19.
