Using a KeyboardCourse DescriptionGet to know your keyboard on this fun and interesting course. Understanding how the different keys on your keyboard work and being familiar with the layout will make using a computer so much easier. This course will help you improve your typing skills and at the same time introduce you to basic word processing tasks. This is a short course with tutored sessions and mentor support. It will improve your keyboarding and word processing skills. During this course you will learn about some of the basic terminology relating to computers and how to proficiently use the keyboard. You will learn how to: Entry RequirementsYou should already be able to use a mouse to open and close programmes. You should be able to minimise, restore and maximise Windows and be able to use the taskbar. QualificationsOn successful completion you will be awarded 1 SQA credit at SCQF level 3. AttendanceThis course can take up to 40 hours of learning which will depend on your current level of skill and has two different learning routes. The tutored route consists of 6 - 8 classes lasting 2½ hours, scheduled 1 week apart. (classes will run subject to viable numbers). If you choose our flexible self learning route, you have 16 - 20 weeks from the start date of your course to complete the assignments. You may study at home or in the supportive environment of our college learning centres. However, there is a short assessment which must be carried out at the learning centre a time for this will be planned with you. Cost£64 This includes all learning materials, workbooks, access to a college learning centre computer, assessment and SQA certification on successful completion.
