Multi-Skilled Hospitality SVQ

Course Description

This Level 2 SVQ is designed for anyone in full time employment, who is involved in a variety of areas in a hotel.

The qualification consists of 9 units, 2 of which are mandatory and the other 7 are selected by the individual candidates. It has specialist units relevant to all aspects of a hospitality business, including.

* Deal with the arrival of customers
* Deal with bookings
* Provide a linen service
* Prepare & clear areas for table service
* Serve food at the table
* Prepare & serve wines
* Prepare vegetables for basic dishes
* Prepare & cook fish
* Maintain & deal with payments
* Contribute to effective teamwork
* Prepare customer accounts
* Collect linen & make beds
* Give customers a positive impression of yourself
* Serve alcoholic & soft drinks
* Cook & finish basic vegetable dishes
* Prepare hot & cold sandwiches
* Complete kitchen documentation

The majority of the evidence for the qualification will be provided through visual observations carried out in the workplace. The candidates will also have to show that they have appropriate knowledge and understanding of their job.

Entry Requirements

You must be in year round full time employment and working in the hospitality industry.

Qualifications

SVQ Level 2 in Multi Skilled Hospitality.

Attendance

This course is completed in the work place. You will also have to attend various 1 day workshops including health and safety, customer care and food hygiene. It is expected that to complete a Level 2 SVQ you will need 18 months.

Start Date and Venue

Progression

This qualification could help the candidate progress into a role with more responsibility. They may also be able to progress onto the Hospitality Supervision Level 3 SVQ.

Cost

We provide you an evidence portfolio and all the documentation required to help you complete the qualification. We also provide you with a textbook and access to a variety of different resources.

Candidates must be in full time employment and may be able to secure funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, especially those between 16-19.
