Course Description

 

Let's face it; most of us are interested in holidays and tourist destinations, so this course might be for you - a virtual holiday.  If you already work in the tourist industry, are planning a career in this sector, or would like to undertake further study this could be an excellent starting point.

There are three units within the course;

  • Holiday Planning
    This focuses on improving your knowledge of different types of holiday destinations, methods of travel, understanding brochures and booking holidays.
  • Holiday Issues
    This unit provides an understanding of the impact of tourism and the personal issues involved in planning and taking a holiday and problems you may have to deal with.
  • Holiday Destinations 
    This unit looks at expanding your knowledge about selected tourist destinations in the UK and abroad.

Entry to this course is by Application.  Download our Application form, get one from your nearest college learning centre, or telephone Admissions on 01599 566770.

This course is open to anyone with an interest in the tourism industry.  There are no entry requirements, although it is recommended that you have a basic level of English and knowledge of a social subject such a Geography.

Qualifications

SQA, Intermediate One Certificate in Travel and Tourism

Attendance

This course is part time, lasting over 32 weeks, August to May.  There will be a 2 hour tutored session that you are required to attend each week.  In addition, there is an element of self learning required and you will need to study at home or book a space at one of our college learning centres to allow you to complete the course.

Cost

£256 including tutored sessions, exam and certification.   This is an ILA Scotland approved course. Ask your college learning centre for more information on how to apply for this funding or call ILA Scotland free on 0808 100 1090.  Applications may take around 4 weeks.
