Web Design Fundamentals (Int 2)Course DescriptionGet the essential practical skills for designing and developing your own website with the added bonus of a qualification when you successfully complete assessments. This course will develop your knowledge and understanding of the main technical and design elements of website development, whilst still being very practical and hands on. You will be introduced to both hand-coding of HTML and WYSIWYG editors for the creation of web pages. During this course you will create web pages using both text and images and at the same time you will research about the main design principles including copyright considerations and accessibility issues. Key areas covered in this course: At the end of the course you will demonstrate your understanding of what needs to taken into account when designing a webpage. You will also correctly complete a short practical assignment, covering the course content as listed above. Entry RequirementsYou must be proficient in using a computer and web browser. You must have completed our “Introduction to Web Design” course and ECDL or equivalent. Please call your college learning centre to find out more. If you intend to study some of this course at home, you will need a computer and Microsoft Internet Explorer as a minimum. We will advise you of other applications needed and where to download them from once the course has started. QualificationsOn successful completion of the assignments you will be awarded with an SQA Credit for Web Design Fundamentals at SCQF level 5. AttendanceThis course can take up to 40 hours of learning which will depend on your current level of skill. This tutored course consists of 10 classes lasting 2½ hours, scheduled 1 week apart. (classes will run subject to viable numbers). Assessments must be carried out in our college learning centre. Your ILA Scotland account must be in place, before you start this course. The cost of this course includes all tutor based learning materials, access to college learning centre pc, assessment and SQA certification of successful completion. Fee waivers may also apply. The text book "Head First, HTML with CSS & HTML" will be used during the course and is available to borrow for the period of the course. In addition you may wish to purchase a copy, which can be organised at the beginning of the course. |
