Introduction to Health and Safety

Course Description

Health and Safety training is a statutory requirement. This really does make it easy! Let us take care of health and safety training for your staff in this informative, practical and lively course. It covers the elements that are essential in upholding good practice within the work place. It is further supplemented by online learning modules to reinforce knowledge and understanding.

Ideal for employees and new employers. Presented in a fun, non threatening and practical way, this one day course covers the following areas:

  • Overview of Health and Safety
  • Responsibilities
  • COSHH
  • Fire Safety
  • Moving and Handling
  • Introduction to Risk Assessment

This is a very hands on course and will help clarify what your responsibilities are when it comes to health and safety.

By the end of this course you will have taken part in a range of tasks. You will also go away with your own Health and Safety Work Book which should be completed at your place of work or at your nearest College Learning Centre. An optional pack of on-line learning is included as part of this course.

A follow-up will be arranged, whereby your trainer or assessor will verify answers in your Work Book in order to conclude the course.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course. You can complete the course work book based at a learning centre or by using your own work place and experience for the evidence required in the work book. Support is given in completing the workbook.

Attendance

This is a great way to introduce you to all aspects of health and safety. There is one tutored day comprising of group work and activities covering all necessary health and safety areas.  It is recommended that you attend the tutored day as this will greatly assist you in completing the course workbook. Places must be booked in advance. There will be a minimum of 3 dates scheduled in a 12 month period. The tutored day runs from 9.30am until 4.30pm. A light lunch is included.
The optional pack of on-line learning can be studied at one of our learning centres or from an Internet ready PC.

Cost

£80 per person. This course can be delivered for a business on their own premises: £450 (maximum of 10 learners at one time). This course can also be further tailored for a group of people with a common aim. For example it can focus on safety for computer users, safety in the home or safety in a reception area.
